Visit from the Strawberry Hill Fiddlers - June 2007 |
The Strawberry Hill Fiddlers, from New York State USA, visited us for two nights during their tour of Scotland. Unfortunately, it was the last week of the schools' Summer term and there were lots of other
things going on that TYF members were involved in so their visit to Dundee was a bit, how can I put this, er . . . ad hoc?

On the night the visitors arrived, we had an informal gathering in Clepington Fairmuir Church Hall - this was
a 'getting to know you' session and an opportunity to swop a few tunes. |

Here's the Director of the Strawberry Hill Fiddlers, Carole Schaad, leading some of the junior TYF members. |
After the session, there was a spontaneous dash to the top of Dundee Law - here's Danielle, Rozy and Talija with the Tay
Bridge in the distance. |
On the second night of their visit, the SHFs gave a concert in the church hall. Their virtuosity and versatility was outstanding and
certainly gave the TYFs something to aim at! Many thanks to the ladies of the church who laid on a wonderful spread at the interval. |
One of the highlights of the visit was a jam session after the concert. |
A big thank you to Tricia and Ron Neville for hosting the session . . . |
. . . not too much damage, I hope! |
The SHFs visit was all too short . . . |
. . . but maybe they'll come back some day - and perhaps the TYFs will include New York State in their tour of the US sometime?! |
